Reverberations
The flap of a wing, the silent sounds of the gong. Echoes of a story that was, a story that will be.The Butterfly effect has always intrigued me. It is a chaos theory that suggests that something as small as the flutter of a butterfly’s wing can ultimately cause a typhoon halfway around the world. The more I work with colors, I notice a similar kind of chaos in the making of art, how a stray stroke of the brush, textures, the riot of colors, finally make the larger picture, the piece of art complete.Reverberations is a mixed media work from the Butterfly Effect Series. Over the last few years of working as an artist, I’m beginning to notice a trend of sorts. Of how the butterflies start emerging in my work almost instinctively at pivotal points of my life, at the verge of making a breakthrough of some sort. Frozen 2013
As the song goes,
“Déjame vivir Libre , Libre como el aire.” meaning,
Let me live Free, Free as the air.
This diptych captures for me the essence of the song quite perfectly. The frozen diptych now part of the Pink Ginger series is a set of artworks in mixed media. The butterflies keep appearing and reappearing in my artwork, but this diptych has been added to the Pink ginger series instead of the Butterfly effect series for its size and experiments with texture, typography and the use of a more subtle palette.
