Kingdom :: Animalia, 2016

I created these stylized zoology journal drawings in October 2016 as part of the Inktober series for the month. It was in continuation with my Roots series in which I drew inspiration from the many long hours spent in zoology and botany classes. There have been numerous inquiries for the art since I created it , but I wasn’t able to make it available for sale before due to many reasons including the fact that the art was created in a sketchbook and I had to find a way to make it available without diminishing the characteristic essence of the intricate art in any way.

Being created in what essentially is a workbook each of the pieces carry with them evidence of being in one, with their uneven edges where the binding was, or edges stained by wee color spills in some cases. It is these, what some may call “imperfections” that add to the personality of each of the drawings, and after much deliberation it was these markings that prompted me to make these available as original works instead of clean prints.

Each of these works come in a floating frame that along with the beautiful art itself also accentuates its unique individual character, spots, rips et al.
