It’s been such a joy working on this polyptych. To meditate over what feels like a gazillion layers of paint, reading patterns as they form, reform. I’m going to miss them.

Tree Of Life
For a season, a reason or a life time.
The narrative I feed on, of a creative process that requires no pre-planning. No rough sketches. No erasing. Of just putting paint to canvas, and coming out of a color filled trance after a few hours, a few days, with a piece of art that wows me as much as it does another.
It is a narrative that jars against the processes of a commissioned work. It screeches as it looks for a semblance of freedom of the impromptu, within the confines of the client specs.
It has been a huge challenge for me, to work in a way that does not come very easy to me, but it is a process I am starting to enjoy very much.

Reverberations
The flap of a wing, the silent sounds of the gong. Echoes of a story that was, a story that will be.The Butterfly effect has always intrigued me. It is a chaos theory that suggests that something as small as the flutter of a butterfly’s wing can ultimately cause a typhoon halfway around the world. The more I work with colors, I notice a similar kind of chaos in the making of art, how a stray stroke of the brush, textures, the riot of colors, finally make the larger picture, the piece of art complete.Reverberations is a mixed media work from the Butterfly Effect Series. Over the last few years of working as an artist, I’m beginning to notice a trend of sorts. Of how the butterflies start emerging in my work almost instinctively at pivotal points of my life, at the verge of making a breakthrough of some sort. As the song goes,
“Déjame vivir Libre , Libre como el aire.” meaning,
Let me live Free, Free as the air.
This diptych captures for me the essence of the song quite perfectly. The frozen diptych now part of the Pink Ginger series is a set of artworks in mixed media. The butterflies keep appearing and reappearing in my artwork, but this diptych has been added to the Pink ginger series instead of the Butterfly effect series for its size and experiments with texture, typography and the use of a more subtle palette.

A Hundred Eyes
I have been hearing peacock cries in the forest next to my house for the last couple of months. Haven’t spotted any this season though. They’re not exactly pleasant to the ear, and it’s eerie to hear them shriek in the dark of the forest, at dawn, but they surely are a beautiful sight when they make themselves seen.
Ever since I completed work on Carousel Circles, I’ve been thinking of peacocks. At noon yesterday, we heard a loud shriek. It sounded like the bird was nearby. I rushed to my window hoping to finally spot it, in vain.
Going by how loud the cry was, and that we didn’t hear him after, the bird was most probably attacked by a dog or something else. I do hope it wasn’t, and that it still lives happily in those greens.
So finally no peacock was sighted, but what did happen was that I was overcome by this sudden urge to paint a peacock. So without wasting any time, I pulled out the paints, the palette knife and a stretched canvas, and got down to some furious painting. I love how he looks on my canvas.
