Ek Punjab Ye Bhi
Asma Kazi's portraits are haunting. Once your eyes fall on them, you can't take them off. Those portraits drew me in till one day I was collaborating with her to draw the posters for our theatre company The Hoshruba Repertory's new play "Ek Punjab Ye Bhi", which were equally haunting. She is a rare artist.
The Frozen diptych came to me as a birthday present. I had been admiring them, and then saw them get sold on your page. My heart sank. How do you think I felt, when a week later, I opened a package, to find it was for me? Happy Happy me. 🙂
Cinque Terre - Blue City
I don't remember how I stumbled upon Asma's paintings but I do remember it was on Facebook and Cinque Terre was the first one I saw and loved. It was literally love at first sight. And I emailed her immediately. Well, from then to now, five of her beautiful artworks adorn my walls and I love them. 🙂
Summer is such a beautiful name (for the art) & as it is my favourite season of the year, it suits the work splendidly! I remember the sense of freedom and escape I felt when I first saw the doodle, and your Summer is going to remind me of just that. It is going to be my reward and gift for finally getting the job I've always wanted to do. I was going to get myself a ring with my birthstone on it (aquamarine) with my first salary, but I think your artwork is better & I am going to always keep it where my eyes will fall on it - to remind me of what I am capable of.Thank you again and again for this preciousness. I can't believe it's mine to cherish.
"My sister was very pleasantly surprised to receive the artworks. Here is what she says- Thank you for making my birthday and life so exciting again."
I am writing this with great pleasure to talk about my association with Asma Kazi as an artist. I encountered Asma's magical work on Instagram and instantly fell in love with her world of surreal and enchanting charm. When it was time to look for a suitable artist for my book cover Asma was my first and last choice. I needed someone who could not only understand the strangeness of the worlds I had created but also capture the essence of it. I am delighted to emphasise that Asma's art for my book Dark Things has surpassed even my wildest expectations. She has infused her gentle yet whimsical and enchanting vision in it. I was also floored by her willingness to collaborate and exchange ideas.
